At MNGI Digestive Health, we strive to create a healthcare experience that sets a new standard of quality, safety, and comfort for our patients. By designing our facilities with thoughtful intent and patient-centered elements, we not only enhance patient experiences but also improve outcomes. From universal design principles to workflow efficiency, we prioritize every detail, ensuring that both patients and our dedicated teams have the best environment possible to foster health and wellbeing.
Thoughtfully Designed Facilities for Better Patient Experience
Our facilities are crafted with the patient journey in mind. Every aspect, from aesthetics to layout, is meticulously planned to make each visit as comfortable and stress-free as possible. Clean, inviting spaces are more than just visually appealing; they play an essential role in providing a healing environment where patients can feel at ease. Patients at MNGI Digestive Health experience the benefit of this intentional design, as it focuses on clarity, cleanliness, and flow, reducing unnecessary barriers that can distract from their care.
Central to our approach is a universal design philosophy, which goes beyond traditional accessibility measures to provide a welcoming experience for all. For example, we’ve incorporated wheelchair-friendly scales and designated seating areas in our lobbies, ensuring that individuals who use mobility aids have spaces that respect their comfort and independence. Wheelchair users are provided with seating areas that are reserved specifically for them so they can relax without feeling isolated or displaced in the lobby. This thoughtful, inclusive design supports a welcoming atmosphere for everyone who enters our facilities.
Reducing Footsteps to Enhance Patient Care
A streamlined environment not only benefits patients but also our staff. By reducing the number of footsteps required for our care team to perform their work, we maximize their ability to spend time with patients. Key elements like examination rooms, equipment stations, and medical supplies are placed strategically to ensure that everything needed is within easy reach. This thoughtful layout means that our staff can stay focused on what truly matters: providing attentive, compassionate care to each patient.
For our patients, this enhanced workflow results in a more efficient visit and a higher quality of care. With fewer disruptions, our teams can focus on connecting with and addressing patient concerns, helping individuals feel heard and valued throughout their treatment.
Keeping Cleanliness and Comfort in Focus
To further improve patient comfort and experience, we carefully plan the placement of ancillary areas such as soiled rooms and mechanical rooms out of patient view. This design choice helps maintain a calm, welcoming environment free from unnecessary distractions. Patients can focus fully on their care and recovery without being exposed to behind-the-scenes operations, reinforcing our commitment to providing a space that is as serene and inviting as it is functional.
Continuous Improvement Through Quality Metrics
At MNGI Digestive Health, we don’t just meet standards—we aim to exceed them. To keep patient experience at the forefront of everything we do, we utilize the OAS CAHPS (Outpatient and Ambulatory Surgery Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) surveys. Designed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), this survey provides valuable feedback from our patients following their visit to our Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). It covers essential elements such as doctor-patient communication, facility cleanliness, discharge preparation, overall facility rating, and willingness to recommend.
This feedback loop is invaluable to our mission. We voluntarily adopted the OAS CAHPS survey years before mandatory CMS reporting, set to begin in 2025. By proactively gathering this data, MNGI has established a robust baseline of patient satisfaction scores that not only surpass national benchmarks but also highlight our commitment to continuous improvement. Our teams consistently deliver high-quality care, as reflected by strong and stable scores for “overall facility rating” (figure 1) and “willingness to recommend,” (figure 2) underscoring the trust and satisfaction of our patients.
