Abbey is from Minnesota and grew up in the northern suburbs. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities and later went on to complete her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies at Saint Catherine University where she became enamored with GI during an elective clinical rotation. Prior to coming to MNGI, she practiced pain and addiction medicine in the Twin Cities. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Associates and Minnesota Academy of PAs.
